Description: House Targaryan is a noble family of Valyrian descent that escaped the Doom. They lived for centuries on the island of Dragonstone until Aegon Targaryen and his sisters rode their dragons to the conquest of the Seven Kingdoms. House Targaryen ruled as the Kings of Westeros for nearly 300 years.

They continue to follow several old Valyrian traditions, including incestuous marriage, wedding brother to sister, cousin to cousin, and uncle to niece, holding themselves apart from and above the noble Westerosi families. Something which could well account for the madness so common in the family, something king Aerys II is well known for.

Members of the Targaryen family share common features including, silvery-gold (or platinum) hair and violet eyes. Some Targaryens also have a high tolerance of heat, this is commonly refereed to as "blood of the dragon."

Their sigil is a three headed red dragon on a field of black, and their words are "Fire and Blood!"
